I'm currently in one of those bogs where I've got a lot of different stuff I want to post about and not a lot of time to type up posts. So here's a quick rundown of a few more cards from my quarterbox haul at the card show last weekend.
Some Boston goodness. I was kinda sad to see them get eliminated yesterday, though Houston has fun a team that's hard to root against. Nice trio of Mookie Betts parallels here, plus a Benintendi insert, and a couple Bogaerts.
Some Dodgers. I was hoping Arizona could challenge Los Angeles more than they did. Oh well. Here we got a Kershaw GQ "Missing Black Plate" parallel, a Corey Seager RC, and a Jansen chrome parallel #/999.
The Nats need to score some runs against the Cubs this afternoon to stay alive (update: postponed by rain). The Trea Turner card is a Chrome parallel, though it might not be obvious in the pic. COMC is telling me it's a $4 card, so not bad for a quarter! (The Strasburg on the other hand is going for $0.43... hey, they can't all be screamin' deals. Pretty sure it's a PC need, at least.)
Yankees surprisingly forced a deciding Game 5 against the Indians. That'll be interesting. I grabbed the Torreyes just because those blue burlap parallels look cool. While not serial-numbered, they apparently have a print run of only 50.
And a few more cards. The McCovey mini is a SP.
Thanks for stopping by.
I don't know what they call that middle Mookie Betts card, but it's spectacular!
ReplyDeleteAs Chris mentioned, it's called an Ice parallel (or sometimes Cracked Ice, I think). Pretty prevalent in recent Bowman products. Yeah, they look pretty neat and can be pleasantly hypnotizing to move around in the light for a bit. :)
DeleteNice pickups! Love the Mookies of course - and I agree, it's hard to root against Houston, especially after the hurricane and the acquisition of Verlander. Is the card Billy's asking about a Platinum ice parallel?
ReplyDeleteI like the blue burlaps, too. And the Strasburg '94 Finest design.
Excellent finds... I especially like the Mookies!
ReplyDeleteQuick quest for you, Gavin. I was at a local liquor store today and noticed they had a beer titled 0.394. Ever heard of it? It was sold in a larger bottle, not your typical 12 ouncer. It has a swinging Tony Gwynn on the front. I suggest you look for it, if for no other reason than to keep it displayed prominently on a shelf. If you can't find a bottle out your way, then let me know and I'll ship you one!
Yeah, I've been really meaning to check this out. Kerry gave me a heads up that a certain Portland beer shop was carrying it recently, but I haven't gotten over there yet. I think I'm going to task my wife with tracking down a bottle this December for inclusion in the annual "12 Days of Beermas" she gifts me.
DeleteGwynn Beer - sounds like a must have! Hope you can acquire one - or more!
ReplyDeleteSolid quarter box finds there, especially the Maxwell.
ReplyDeleteNice bunch of cards!
ReplyDeleteNot bad finds!
