That lingering smell of cardboard

I recently did a follow-up trade with Tim B. of I Love the Smell of Cardboard in the Morning. Let's check out the contents of the loaded PWE he sent my way.

Sparkly 2011 Topps parallels! My trading partners are demanding a wantlist for this frankenset project of mine (ok, one guy asked about it today, but still), however I've yet to hash one out. Between Series 1, Series 2, Update, and the retired-guy variations, there are over a thousand cards. Yikes. I've probably only got about 30 so far. Yes, this is definitely a long term collecting goal. One of these days I'll get a wantlist sorted out, but for now, just assume I need any of them! Diamond, cognac, those blue diamond ones.. whatever.
This above is a nice lot. I think the Xavier Paul card is funny, with the guy in the background getting turned to diamond. Sorry, buddy, this ain't your card. Only the star of the show is spared from the diamond-ray.

Here are a couple pretty refractors of guys I collect.

Parallel Padres! I think these are my first Toys R Us parallels.. or at least among the first. Pretty cool. Since there are already purple base cards in 2015 Topps, you'd think they could come up with a different, unused color to use for exclusive parallels, but whatever.

Vintage album/booklet card-like-things! Neat little items.

And we close out with a few more various Padres. The Cory Spangenberg, in particular, is an eye-catching card. And I'm happy to see Gyorko playing well of late.

Thanks again for the trade, Tim! I'll be getting another PWE out to you pretty soon.

  1. The stamp album is a 1969 Topps issue . The comic is a 1970 item. Cool package

  2. Glad you're finding some of the stuff I'm sending your way fits into your collection. I should be sending a relatively steady stream of those 2011 parallels.
