My favorite tv shows have been a priority for adding to my collection so far in 2020. That's not worded very well, but what it means is you can expect to see a few posts dedicated to cards featuring The Simpsons and Mystery Science Theater 3000 on the blog coming up. And here's one such post now. Just a quick one.
Topps put out a Throwback Thursday set last December featuring the 1990 Simpsons design with players who guested in the classic "Homer At the Bat" episode. I think it's well established that it's an all-time favorite of mine, so I had to pick up a set. (I missed the window to order from Topps due to holiday distractions, but found one on eBay for a few bucks more.)
The set from Topps is only 6 cards, though, per most #TBT on-demand sets, leaving out 3 members of the Springfield 9. Luckily I'm no stranger to making custom cards, so I was able to fill in the gaps and create this beautiful completed page you see above!
Eh, I didn't get the coloring perfect on my customs, but close enough.
Have a great weekend, everybody!
Nice work (as always)!
ReplyDeleteYes......well done!
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome, fantastic work! I wish Topps included the reasons why each player missed the big game.
ReplyDeleteThose are cool, I've never seen those before!
ReplyDeleteI was going to comment that Topps made an unusually good card with that Sax one. Nice photo selection!
ReplyDeleteActually now just looking - the six Topps cards basically are using the exact same photo . . . Griffey a little different b/c he's following through, but still a lot of sameness without your customs.
Very cool! I used to be really into The Simpsons -- not so much now, but the Homer at the Bat episode has definitely stuck with me over the years.
ReplyDeleteThose first few seasons of The Simpsons had so many great episodes. Nice job on the customs and completing the 9-player squad!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Can't see any difference on the card fronts... and I'm sure you can only notice the backs when put next to each other.
