CONTEST: 500th post + 2 year bloggiversary celebration!

Yep, I'm publishing my 500th post on the two-year anniversary of this blog! Two big milestones at once. Right here! Right now! And they said it couldn't be done! We proved them all wrong!

And yeah! You can't have a card blog celebration without a contest for free cards, so let's do it... CONTEST!

To enter, just comment on this post and (if you'll forgive fishing for compliments) tell me your favorite Baseball Card Breakdown memory from the past 2 years.

You can get a bonus entry if you pimp the contest with a link to this post on your blog, or on Twitter, or Instagram, or a card forum, or something along those lines (and then leave a comment here stating you did.. preferably with a link to it. Limit one such bonus entry per person).

[Update: the contest is now closed! Good luck to all who entered.]

I think for a prize I'm just going to send the winner a flat-rate Priority box full of cards. I'll try to curate it to the winner's particular collecting interests, but chances are the bulk of it will be a mishmash of various teams. I guess it depends on what the winner likes and what I've got available. But don't worry, I'll include some good stuff.
- at least one certified auto (of someone you've heard of)
- at least one relic card, and some numbered cards, parallels, and whatnot
- a custom glow-in-the-dark sketchcard of the player of your choice by yours truly
So yeah, I think I'd be able to put together a nice box that the winner would like. If needbe, I'll do some shopping (e.g. keep an eye out for cards for the winner at the show coming up in a couple weeks).

I guess you don't have to be a follower this go-round, but of course it's much appreciated. (Click that blue "Join this site" box on the right sidebar. And hey, why not follow on Twitter while you're at it.)

Non-US folks can enter, but if you win and don't have a US address, you'll get an abbreviated prize in the form of a PWE or two instead of a box. Sorry, but you know how it is with international shipping these days!

I'll let the contest run a few days till around the weekend then we'll randomly work out a Grand Prize winner. Chances are I'll be in a giving mood and end up with some runner-up winners and/or "second chance" contests, too! It's fun spreading around free cards, after all.

Ok, now let's celebrate 500 posts by reviewing the previous 499. No, I'm serious! Let's do it:

So those weren't exactly all in order (mostly by month, copy & pasted from the sidebar), but I think that should be all of them.

Thanks for stopping by and good luck should you choose to enter the contest!

So since we're celebrating the blog today, what's your favorite Baseball Card Breakdown moment?

  1. Good work, great accomplishment. The Creepiness of Topps 3D was pretty funny.

  2. Congrats on the anniversary. I've pimped the contest already on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/OffHiatusBBC/status/610586122658385923

And, my favorite posts? It's tough to go wrong with the Christina Hendricks post. More Boobs!

  3. Nicely done.

I jumped on board late last year an. I've really enjoyed your posts. Fun, enthusiastic and occasionally making me think.

The "Wallet Card" introduction is my most memorable post of yours and I've enjoyed dragging around my (now nearly unrecognizable) 76 Topps Oscar Gamble.

    Talk about fun!

    Congrats.

  4. The Wampa Cometh (A Silent Post) brings a smile to my face. I love me some Wampa!
    Congrats on the milestone, Gavin!

  5. My favorite BCBd memories would have to be posts #322-368. You really hit a stride. Much better than, say, #210-227 or #411-430. Maybe #35-61 could compete, but not quite.

  6. I'm in it for the glow in the dark card!

My favorites are definitely the Guys from Granite stuff, the Wallet Card stuff, and anytime you made a shiny card gif. The latter two are especially awesome entries to the card blogging world, and have made my blog roll much more entertaining!

  7. Carlton Fisk Tries To Remember Where He Parked still makes me laugh. Happy 250 posts per year!

  9. Two of my favorite posts came within a week of each other last October. The Eddie Pepitone autograph on a Joe Pepitone card was a great post, and I still like the idea.

A week later your post on Weezer was also great. Not to say your other posts haven't been, I still love reading your posts. I'll post a link when I promote the contest on twitter or my next blog.

  13. Hey man...congrats on 500. Here's to 500 more!!
Although it's a little sparse, I'm gonna say my fave is your first...because that's the one that got everything rolling and brought us to this place and time. Keep on rockin', brother.

  18. I was a fan of the super creepy Topps 3D post.

Also, there was this post about Donruss Originals - http://baseballcardbreakdown.blogspot.com/2014/08/a-donruss-original-archives-adventure.html

It's not a memory exactly, but I think it was our first interaction other than just reading each others blog... I posted about buying a box of the same and you commented about the fun adventures to be had opening these packs.

I think your blog, Heartbreaking Cards, and Night Owl were the first three card blogs I would visit daily - this was before I started my blog.

    Congrats on the milestone!

  19. Favorite memory is the Wallet Card. And in general just discovering your blog. There are few "newer" blogs these days that have more content than just showing what they got in the mail. I'll send a tweet on your contest as well. Congratulations and thanks for the contest!

  27. You know, its so hard to pick out any ONE spcific post. Bottom line, any time you blog about the San Diego Padres, THAT has to be my favorite!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm not entering the contest, but I just wanted to drop in and say congrats on the anniversary and 500th post! Looking forward to another 500. Picking a favorite moment is tough, but I especially enjoyed your Simpsons series.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Congrats on the milestones. I liked the twelve days of Christmas cards theme

    ReplyDelete
  30. My favorite posts always involve your 2004 Topps Retired Autographed Refractor set. They're so beautiful. Also enjoyed your Netflix inspired pickups post. Oh... and the Dick Williams PC too. Can't say for sure... but I think he's the only guy to coach all three teams I enjoy collecting: Oakland, San Diego, and Montreal.

  31. Congratulations on the blogiversary.

My favorite posts are the ones related to glow-in-the-dark cards, I love glowing cards. Also your wallet card creation took the blogging community by storm so that is a favorite too.

  32. Congrats on hitting the double milestone!! My favorite moment has to be when we did that trade last year at getting those awesome glow in the dark cards from you!

    ReplyDelete
  33. First post I recall reading here was the Jimmie Johnson/Guys from my high school posts. I saw a JJ reference in someone's blog list and clicked thru because, well, there are not many other guys out there that 'do' NASCAR. Raz does but who else? Anyway there is it. And congrats on the duel milestones.

  34. Well the one that's affected me most would have to be the original Wallet Card post (http://baseballcardbreakdown.blogspot.com/2015/01/wallet-card.html), but the one showcasing all those cool magnets was also pretty awesome. I want to make a million Griffey card magnets!

    Congratulations, G!

  36. Congrats, I've enjoyed a good number of those 500, but I think my favorite was Mookies and Wookies. It was one of the things that pushed me over the edge into checking out Listia. Thanks!

  37. congrats on your milestone post and your wedding anniversary! I guess the posts that stick out for me were your "guys from granite" high school posts. thanks for the contest!

  38. Too many favorites to name, but I think that the "One True Rookie" post on Fred McGriff really stuck out to me.
